All Breed Herding Club Presents

French Course Herding Trial and Clinic

Clinic: Friday, October 11, 2013, instructed by Linda Rorem
Trial: Saturday, October 12, 2013, Judge: Linda Rorem
Trial: Sunday, October 13, 2013, Judge: Barbara Davenport

All Breed Herding Club of Western Washington is proud to host our first French Course Herding Trial.

French Course herding emphasizes moving large flocks of sheep to and from grazing areas, encountering obstacles along the way. Sheep are moved by the dog in a variety of ways and the handler may be in front, to the side, or behind the flock. The course is similar in style to AHBA Ranch Large Flock and accommodates a range of practical herding tasks typically performed by a variety of herding breeds. The judge will set the course; competitors will not know what the course will entail until the day of the trial.

Clinic: Friday, October 11, conducted by Linda Rorem who has been involved in trialing, training and hosting French course trials in California since 1995. On Friday, Linda will discuss the French Course origin, purpose, and style and will guide attendees in laying out a course at PackLeader. Clinic working slots are limited to 10 dogs. Audit is unlimited.

Trial: Saturday and Sunday, we will be holding our first French Course trials. The flock will consist of 25-30 head. Trial entries are limited to 20 runs so DON’T DELAY!
