Inside flanks are very tough to teach, so don’t beat yourself up too much for your dogs’ confusion Keep in ming the actual space between her nose and the sheep’s bodies. The closer she is the harder it is going to be for her release the pressure and give you a flank. Never underestimate the power of a good lay down.

Also as your driving gets better your outruns-top end will most likely flatten out. So try to maintain what you have as you move forward.

It is really surprising about how much the heat makes these guys pout. I’ve been purposefully working Z in the hotter parts of the day either on sheep or on bike rides. You never know when you might draw the mid day run. Yuck, I have a hard time thinking in it too.

Strange for an Aussie like Molly to think that she knows better than her handler. She’s an amazing little black dogs and I don’t blame her for not liking the heat. I don’t like it and I’m not wearing a black fur coat. Go Molly and Amy!

Thank you Nartia, these are the posts from the original accident in 2007. I made some small edits (though they really need to be overhauled as they are DREADFUL) and the link between FB and WP reposts them.

As a side note, this cracked me up: ” She will wiggle her paws at me a little if I stop scratching her zyphiod process.” Even now, she wiggles her paws at me if i stop scratching her belly… to the point that she’ll bat at my arms while i drive. ‘no not inbetween the front legs! Da Belly!!’ LOL

It was fun working with you this past wknd. Hope you have fun in BC. Wish I was going but still need to get that passport! Anyway, one of the things I noticed w/Courtney is she learned more of the value of the commands I use while loading the cattle. I think they all learn more in real work scenarios then in training exercises.
